Do you remember Igniting Your Intentions™? Well … hopefully, the book is coming soon!

I began writing a book of my six-week workshop, Igniting Your Intentions™in 2005. My my, how time flies.

Now that I am in graphic design class, one of our assignments is to design a book cover. This gives me the perfect opportunity to begin again.

The image on the left is my first go at designing the book jacket cover. The book itself will be another design project.

I'll keep you posted as the design evolves. I welcome your comments and feedback.

The image at left, from yesterday's post, was completed during one of my personal Igniting Your Intentions™ sessions. The image is a powerful one for me so I went back to my writings to find out why. Perhaps the drawing is powerful for you as well. And perhaps the writing will speak to you, too.

Here is what I wrote:

Drawing

Gives me Goosebumps – white bird with huge wingspan. Is it a dove, a blue bird of happiness – is the blue its color or definition? This bird is Beauty in Flight. I’m in total awe and choked up over this image.

Drawing's Message:

Take flight, my dear, worry not about all your worldly affairs. They will be taken care of. You are glory bound forevermore. Share your beauty with the children. They will listen. They will get it. The ribbons of peace weave around you. Carry them with you whenever you go – wherever. Your angels are all around you, dear, helping, guiding, assisting. You need only ask for help and it is granted – pronto! You are aligned with your true calling – now fly away in victory. Just remember, your angels are with you at all times. Speak out and ask for help and guidance and assistance – it is here.

Day 4: Glossing Over & Strengthening

Day 4: Glossing Over & Strengthening

Money flows to me easily affording me freedom.

Money worries rising to the surface big time today. I recently took a huge leap of faith into a mentorship program. Now, I'm wondering where the money will come from to pay for it. Yikes! Does anyone out there need or want a timeshare in Cancun? Selling it would certainly lighten my load and help me pay for this program.

Painting

I did not do anymore work on the painting today, except for brushing gel gloss medium over the front and back sides of it. Three coats of tempera paint had been built up and the edges of the paper were curling. That bothered me so I went for a strengthening cure. Now I'm wondering if I want to do this painting with acrylic on canvas instead. Do I want to upgrade my materials? This Igniting session seems to be taking me into a different place than sessions before it. Normally, I would use inexpensive materials so I would not be inhibited. And everyday I would do a new drawing or painting. This session, however, I seem to want to work on one painting ... or it wants me to delve deeper into the painting, the image of what is showing up. It's a mystery right now. We'll see what transpires over the next few days.

I'm reading Edwene Gaine's book: The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity (part of the mentorship program) right now. She has a two week self-care exercise. I thought I would do that in conjunction with my Igniting session.

Day One: Strive for Order
Since I have this week off, that is precisely what I have been doing. So, I'm on this one.

Day Two: Take time for solitude.
Yep, I'm on this one too. I have been taking a long hot bath everyday which gives me peace, silence, and solitude.

Day Three: Create Beauty
I do this all the time. Check!

Day Four: Give yourself a treat.
Uh oh .... I'm on day four of my Igniting session, so this is what I have to do today. She says, "The universe will only treat you as well as you treat yourself." I'm in trouble on this one. Or am I? This Igniting session is a treat for me. She tells us to think of something we love to do but do not think we have the time for like a massage or having lunch with a friend. I need to work on this one.

I'm also wondering if signing up for this mentorship program is taking away my freedom on some level. It certainly will if the money does not come through. My car has been broken down for two weeks now. My car has always given me a sense of freedom. Having a full tank of gas and a reliable car gives me a huge sense of freedom. So, are these two related?

And I wonder what my true purpose really is. How shall I serve? What is my service to the world? Are my workshops the service I am to focus on? I think I would just like to create art and make that my service to the world. So far, neither of these is working for me in terms of supporting me. I need to get this figured out now.

One thing I have been considering offering is something like an essence painting or soul image or something like that. I have done a couple of these in the past where I tap into the essence of the person through a painting. Then, I channel a message for them in conjunction with the painting. They seemed to really touch the recipient of them in a deep way.

In closing, I thank God for supplying all of my needs, wants, desires, and supporting me fully on this earth walk.

Here is a wonderful affirmation from the book mentioned above:
Large, rich, opulent, lavish, financial surprises now come to me, and I am grateful.

Yes, I'm ready for those lavish financial surprises. Bring 'em on now! And Thanks.

Day Three: Deep Truth

Painting: Deep Truth

Added green and blue, defined the mountains. This painting is looking dark: although, I like the blue and green colors. They feel rich and true, like crisp growth and depth. The roots are pushed behind, no longer needing to be exposed.

Painting's Message:

Delving, digging, seeking answers to your innermost problems and issues allows them to rise to the surface, exposing them to the healing light. This is an act of courage and faith. For to rise above your problems and issues with an all abiding faithful conviction separates you from them like chaffing the wheat. You get clarity in return from the muddy existence you have been living. This has caused misery, struggle, not to mention unhappiness and discontent.

Rising to the occasion of personal growth affords you a better chance at freedom on all levels. Stand strong and true for what you believe to be true in each and every moment. Be open and flexible enough to allow your beliefs to change in the ebb and flow of natural causal growth. As you grow, you change and some beliefs melt away as outmoded and no longer needed ideas bubble to the surface and pop.

Be thankful on this day of Thanksgiving. You are alive and creating a beautiful new life for yourself. Show up everyday, even in small ways, for YOU, for you are worthy, wealthy, and wise.

Salute, a new day is dawning for YOU as you awaken the sleeping giant within your Being. Awake and KNOW your greatness. SEEK better understanding and it will be granted upon to you. Weaknesses dissolve into strengths.

A better YOU has arrived in this moment. Get up, Rejoice. Shout the call to Victory. You have answered the call to meet yourself head-on. The mirror is huge and you must see for the mirror is 360 degrees. No turning back. No turning away. Now is your time. Seize it at every opportunity. Rejoice in the rejoicing. Amen.

Follow my 28 Day Process: Personal Igniting Your Intentions™

Day One

It has been way too long since I embarked upon my own process of Igniting Your Intentions™. And it feels sooooo good to be back at it.

Igniting Your Intentions™is a very focused 28-process of self-discovery using writing and drawing. It is a process that came to me during a time of deep inner work. I have done workshops. I had planned to write a book. The book proposal is finished but I never sent it out. Maybe it's time?

It is time to do this process for myself again. I thought my intention statement would read as follows:

I allow myself success beyond my wildest dreams.

However, I found an old sample of the Igniting Journal on my studio shelf. "Perfect, I'll use that", I thought. Inside I had tucked an igniting statement into each journal that I had made up. This one read:

Money flows to me easily affording me freedom.

"More perfect", I thought. I embarked upon my solo journey of alignment to my true self almost five years ago, leaving behind everything I knew, friends, ex-husband, cats, family. Although the journey has been rich and creative, I have not been able to build a stable financial foundation. I need to focus on this now and see what comes up for me. What you focus on expands, right?

Day One -- Painting's Message to Me:

Mountains, pine trees, beautiful colorful sky, color, bold blazing color -- these bring you happiness -- lightness, brightness, warmth, pine tree forest this is where your heart is. Allow it to come to you. Your new residence is within reach. Trust, believe, allow yourself to receive the bounty within the heart, within your reach. You can have it all. Allow, allow, allow money to reach you, to flow to you easily affording you the freedom that you so richly deserve. It is on its way to you now. Believe, receive.

Day Two

Money flows to me easily affording me freedom.

I continued painting on the pine tree landscape. I painted light turquoise over the entire sky, painted the mountains a shade of blue, painted the pine trees with teal and brown, exposing roots on the trees.

Day Two -- Painting's Message to Me:

Do all you can to bring the money in today [all the things that are in process]. These are within your scope to effect. We work behind the scenes orchestrating magical events so that money will flow to you easily. We want freedom for you. You will be able to help more people once your financial foundation is in place. Do not delay in doing your part. You will be glad that you did. The skills you need will be added upon you. You will learn them easily.

Donegal's Garden -- I had never heard of Donegal's Garden before I did this drawing this morning. As soon as I got out the hot pink paper and picked a green crayon, those words came to me. Now, I'm researching. It is a real place in Ireland! This makes me really miss my garden in Connecticut. I must get a garden planted here at this small rental house. I miss gardening so much.

On Excuses and Resistance from Seth's Blog... Get on with your life now, already, no more waiting, no more whining! Here's what he says:

"I don't have any good ideas"

Now I know you're bluffing.
First, everyone has good ideas. Maybe not as fast or as often as others, but are you telling me that in your entire life, you've never had one good idea? Ever?
Second, and way more telling, what happens if I give you a good idea. Here. Take it. Now what? You have it, right?
Now you need to find a second reason for not making things happen. "I don't have enough time." "I can't get the resources." "I'm not sure, really sure, guaranteed, that this is a good idea." "My boss won't let me."
And so the lizard brain speaks up, and so the cycle continues, and so the Resistance wins.
There are more good ideas, right here, right now, for free, than ever before. More opportunities to connect and lead and make a difference and an impact and a living. Fewer guarantees, sure, but more ideas.
It's your choice about whether or not you do anything with them, but please don't tell me you don't have any good ideas. Seth's Blog.

Interview with Karen Siegel Who Teaches Art to Kids

Karen Siegel of Westport, Connecticut is a former student of Wisdom Painting and Art. She now teaches art to children ages 3-10 at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in New Canaan, Connecticut. She also teaches private lessons.

After last month’s newsletter (July) went out, Karen emailed to tell me of her current work. Because I found her work to be inspiring, I decided to interview her for this issue of Wisdom and Art Inspirations.

She says: “I am very interested in the energetics of things: from the energy created by certain sound vibrations to the energy of drawing "live" meaning the energy of drawing a living hot pepper versus drawing from a photograph because of the actual interaction and energy exchange!”

Interview questions by Mary A. Gravelle.

1. When did you begin teaching at Silvermine?

I started working at Silvermine School of Art 1 year ago.

2. How does the environment at Silvermine help you as a teacher?

Silvermine is located in a very relaxed and beautiful setting...there is a waterfall and pond in the back that definitely stirs up the creative energies. The school is very committed to being a space for everyone to explore their creative possibilities. (Notice how I didn't use the word "abilities"!)

3. What are some examples of lessons that you teach the kids: i.e., activities and the lessons learned from those activities?

I use a combination of music, sound and fun art materials to encourage creativity and imagination. (EXAMPLE: CD from the Monterey, California Aquarium of piano with dolphin and whale sounds!)

4. What inspired you to teach kids ages 3-10?

Nine years ago, I started teaching art at a preschool...I really enjoy teaching kids in this age group (3-10) because they come from " beginner's mind"...young children can relax into the creative space with ease. I think they can do this because their brains are less cluttered!

5. What do you think is the most important aspect to teaching art to this age group?

I believe the most important aspect of teaching art to this age group is to set up a very open-ended environment with lots of cool, fun materials and very relaxing music. With the older kids I draw and paint right along with them so that the synergy we create has a cumulative effect with everyone sharing their work and ideas.

6. What is your biggest challenge in teaching this age group?

My biggest challenge as a teacher is that we all need to develop patience, myself included! I have a few expressions I use:" Try again" (when a child gets frustrated) and" Everything is fine, learning takes time."

7. What is your greatest joy in this work?

My greatest joy is to see the sparkle of discovery...nothing beats that!

8. What is your greatest heartache in this work?

My greatest heartache is seeing how some kids are so afraid of making a mistake! I tell them there are no mistakes in art and this is their time to explore and discover!

9. What events in your life led up to teaching kids about art?

My Dad is an artist. So from the time I was very young, he generously shared all his knowledge, wisdom and experience. Another great contributor was my working at the Westport Children's Library where I learned what kids like. I also became very familiar with all the great kids books (especially picture books) that are out there and are now an integral part of my teaching. (We always have snack and Read Aloud...artists get hungry when they are working hard!)

10. How did the Igniting Your Intentions sessions with Wisdom Painting and Art influence your current work?

I took your class at a very intense time in my life...my Mother was literally on her deathbed. Going through this time with you as my guide helped me emotionally.

And then to have a painting I did of my Mom going through her dying process is beyond description. What I came away with is that even in the height of grief and loss, creation is possible.

11. What are the special challenges you see for kids in 2010 and beyond?

Special challenge for kids now is taking the time to create. We are all so visually bombarded I think it's easy to get overloaded.

12. How can art education help them with these challenges?

Creating art is sacred time..a sanctuary from the intensity and pace of the world.

13. What advice do you have for other art teachers?

My advice to teachers is...try not to overteach..create a lot of airtime, time to just muse, ponder and be.

14. What education prepared you to teach these kids about art?

As far as my college education, I double majored in studio art and education, followed by taking classes at The School of Visual Arts in New York in graphic design. I enjoyed being a graphic designer for 20 years working in design firms, ad agencies and book publishers. Then I decided I wanted to work more hands-on with kids and contribute to their creative process.

15. Where do you see your teaching leading you?

I see my job as one where by creating a relaxed environment, I can help bring my students to that quiet place of silence and stillness from which the creative force emerges.

Full Moon Personal Wisdom Painting Session

This is my Wisdom Painting I did last night for the full moon ritual.

I drew three cards from the Wisdom of the Four Winds card deck: 39 Penguin - Faith; 37 Kingfisher - Vigilance; and 38 Sunset - Completion. What are the odds of picking sequential numbered cards?

All of my cards gave me messages about being the seerer, using the eyes of the seerer, letting go in order to receive the new. I had stated that I was willing to let go of whatever is ready to go. These cards tell me that I am on track and letting go, and to keep letting go.

The Kingfisher card told me to draw a map of my past and another for my future. So, I did that on my painting. The left side of pink/blue/black painting is my past. And the right side of red/pink/black painting is my future.

The past had to do with traumas and healing -- "a woven tapestry of lumps, bumps, bruises, loss, gain, darkness, and light."

The future is all about connections. There is one definite red ring and one possible red ring that comes with me from my past map -- "connections being made now and in the future."

The bottom line from my full moon Wisdom Painting:
" No more fear .... Step forward fearlessly, tirelessly, bravely, courageously into the New You."

Full Moon Tonight -- Wisdom Painting Helps!

Tonight is a full moon. This is what Astrology.com says:

Helping you look at the Big Picture is the Full Moon (6:38PM PDT and energizing 3 degrees of Leo and Aquarius. Individual and group meditations are recommended. Send your healing thoughts and prayers to friends, family members and to all people in need around the world.

While every Full Moon can represent a time of enlightenment, it can also symbolize various struggles and tug-of-war conditions, externally or internally. The Moon making a supportive, 60-degree connection to giant Jupiter (7:25PM PDT) certainly helps to make this a potentially illuminating and nurturing Full Moon experience.

May I suggest that you do a Wisdom Painting tonight? All you need to do is gather your paints, crayons, or other art media of choice, along with paper and have at it. Do a meditation beforehand asking any pertinent questions of your life right now. Allow your intuition to paint the painting, not your mind.

Full Moons are generally good for letting go of things. So, what do you want to let go of right now? See if your painting process can enlighten you on this issue.

After painting, study it and write.

Oh fire, burn the remaining last vestiges of stubborn anger and resentment.

Red bleeding the impurities from my heart. Bleed out, run to Mother Earth, replenishing, grounding my entire Being.

Orange fire, burn away any sexual tensions and issues from my sacred sacral center.

Yellow, surround me in your cheer and optimism for bright times ahead.

Oh, fiery center, blaze bright, bold, and clear.

Fire, burn away the shackles to my heart's desire that I might be free to enjoy what is before me ... crystal clear reality.

The painting shown here is an example of an outcome of Wisdom Painting. It is the result of many hours, weeks, and months of sticking with the painting process. This is where I would love to take YOU!

So far the Wisdom Painting sessions I have held in Silver City have been at the beginner level, which I will continue to hold. I want you to know that I would love to be able to take this workshop to deeper levels with you. The one-year intensive study I did with Aviva Gold, author of Painting From the Source, prepared me to do just that. In addition, I have been painting in the Wisdom Painting way for over 20 years. I have first-hand knowledge and experience with this way of painting for self-discovery.

My workshops have changed over the years from Split Splat Take That, Scrunchy Painting, and finally to Wisdom Painting which is the current name of my workshop that came out of my study with Aviva.

I will be offering Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Retreats for Wisdom Painting this year. My goal is to offer you a 5-day Retreat where all you do is show up to the painting process. I create the safe and sacred container for you to create at the level of your personal interest.

5 Large Life Lessons of 2009
by Christine Kane

I keep hearing people complain about 2009. "Good riddance!" they shout.

I loved 2009. I loved it as much for its challenges as its successes. In fact, I believe that the tumults we've faced as a global community are forcing us all off auto-pilot and into a place of deeper Creativity.

As a creative entrepreneur, I had my share of power-packed lessons this year, and I am excited to continue learning from them! There's no need to live in fear. As Einstein said: "The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or a hostile universe."

Here are my 5 favorite lessons of 2009:

1 - Our Growth is Often Proportional to Our Investment.

This lesson is one of the gifts of owning your own business - though it sure doesn't seem like a gift at first!

The employee mindset goes like this: "Hey, when the company pays for it, I'll do it."

These past two years, I've invested more in my education and coaching than ever before. Yet again, I had to move past the "employee mindset" and plunk down my own moolah. Not only did I step up and play a bigger game, (When our cash is involved - we gotta show up, right?!) but my income skyrocketed.

2 - Clarity Trumps Practicality.

Last March, I had the idea of putting on a big event later in the year.

I said something like this to my coach: "I just don't know if this idea is practical, given the economy."

Sheri gave me that look that coaches give clients when the client has just stepped into the Land of Crappy Thinking. She said, "I don't care if it's practical. I care if you're clear that you want to do it."

I got clear. I did it. It was great. (Yes, even in this economy!)

Clarity trumps practicality. When someone is clear, and they take action from that place of clarity – then practicality has no choice but to move aside and let manifestation occur.

3 - Systems Are Sizzlin'.

I've always been great at "winging it." I'm creative. I'm intuitive. I take action.

The only problem when you're good at winging it is that you often live in chaos, and you tend to see everything on your to-do list as urgent. After a while, this leads to burn out.

Systems require that you step back and look at your daily activities with deep reflection. Systems require that you ask: "How does this work? How can we make it more effective?" Systems allow you to step away from your work, take vacations, have weekends – and most blessedly, have lots of free space in your mind for creativity to bloom.

4 - Ignoring your Business and Marketing Doesn't Make You Humble. (It makes you fail.)

I was a big fan of the statement: "Do what you love, and the money will follow." It's a beautiful philosophy. And true on so many levels.

But I used it as a way to ignore the business side of my work. After all, hey, if the money will follow - then I don't ever have to deal with it, right?

Uh, wrong.

I've since learned that avoidance is not a game plan. Neither is hope.

Even though I was busy in my business this year, I experienced a deeper peace than ever before because I understand how run my business and marketing. In the same way that Creativity and Songwriting taught me so much at the beginning of my career – facing my business and being brave enough to market my work has taken that learning to a higher level than I ever imagined.

5 - Serve. Or Be a Servant. The Choice is Yours.

You serve others with your attention, your intention, your health, your clarity, your awareness, and your power.

You serve others by charging what you're worth, taking care of your health, honoring your time so that you're not distracted or multi-tasking, by making requests rather than complaining, and by taking full responsibility for your thoughts and actions.

When you're a servant, however, you're a slave to the ego, which wants you to believe that serving others means ignoring yourself. After all, the ego would prefer that you remain powerless, fearful, and unaware. That way, it keeps you tethered to the idea of "security." When you don't understand power (or service), you need security for survival. The ego is great at security.

The difference may seem subtle. But the power of this lesson has been staggering.

Exercise on Creating Abundance

I am reading Deepak Chopra's book, Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul. He suggests a good exercise having to do with creating more abundance. Here it is from page 161:

1. Write the word Abundance on a sheet of paper.
2. Draw a circle around it.
3. Write five words around the outside of the circle that would make you feel more abundant.
4. Then, write three things that you could to do, starting today, to make these areas more fulfilling.

Here is mine:

Five words/three things:

1. Friends
a. Continue inviting friends over
b. Meet with friends outside my home
c. Meet with one friend individually each week

2. Partner (true love)
a. Visualize / feel his presence
b. Put my art video up on my website and blog
c. Be my own best love partner
d. Write down a list of attributes I want in my partner

3. Fun
a. Play with Sir Kitty 2-3 x during the day
b. Hike a new trail each week
c. Write a list of what I find fun

4. Home
a. Continue clearing out my home office
b. Bring more boxes home from storage unit, go through those boxes, donate or keep stuff
c. Buy something new for my home--vacuum cleaner, broom, mop, dining room table and chairs, shelving for home office.

5. Success
a. Add three new friends to Linked-In (done--put in requests to join three groups instead of adding new friends, guess I'll still add the three more friends at some point)
b. Change profile photo on Linked-In (done)
c. Complete Mary's Fine Art website
d. Continue painting everyday

Pure and Sure

My notes/thoughts:
Purity, purity of thought, intent, act. Purity of heart, pureness, active purity.

Turquoise paper, a tree, and mountains. Is it about pureness or icy conditions? As I drew I was thinking about purity. Now that I look at the drawing, it is a bit chilly, stark, pure -- actually -- liquid. So it is not about ice. Maybe it's about melting ice?

The tree is liquid gold, moving, oozing, flowing downward into the ground, and dancing upward, shimmering, glowing. Liquid Ice, Pure and Sure.

Drawing's Message:
Shine true, shine sure. Stand steady allowing your energy to shine true and sure. (The song "Rock Steady" is playing in my head). Shine softly, boldly. Reach out with outstretched arms, opening your hands in giving ways. Share your hear, your love, your talents with all who will have it. Share the joy that is Pure and Sure, truly pure.

Donegal's Garden

I had never heard of Donegal's Garden before I did this drawing this morning. As soon as I got out the hot pink paper and picked a green crayon, those words came to me. Now, I'm researching. It is a real place in Ireland! Guess I'll have to go. Got to get that passport!

This makes me really miss my garden in Connecticut. I must get a garden planted here at this small rental house. I miss gardening so much.

My journal notes before I start my drawing:

Is this the correct statement for me now, instead of focusing on prosperity?
I allow my creativity to prosper me now. How about that statement?

I do a meditation and find that focusing on cherishing my life with joy is correct for me now.

I wonder what it means to focus on cherishing my life with joy, to focus each moment on cherishing my life with joy? Should I re-word it somehow?

This statement touches me and makes me feel gratitude toward God and tenderness toward myself. It helps me cherish myself and feel the joy of being alive. NICE!

Joyful states are ecstatic, alive, electric. They can also be peaceful and serene. Get in touch with joy, finally. Feel the ecstatic states in your life. Define joy on your own terms. Joy is a state of Being. And joy is a state of feeling as well as doing. Think in terms of joy states. Begin to get in touch with joy states. You will soon discover that you feel joy in many different ways. Joy is beauty. Enjoy beauty because you are in touch with joy as you do -- you are in joy when you enjoy. Be in joy, Dear One, and enjoy! You are loved beyond all human understanding. So it is. It is said. It is written. It is.

I focus on cherishing my life with joy!

My notes:
My life is the most important thing to me. I need to / want to/ it is imperative that I cherish it. It is imperative that I live with joy.

Drawing: The Womb of Success
This image looks and feels very comforting to me, like a womb. "Womb of Success" are the words that came to me after drawing it.

As I focus on cherishing my life with joy, I sit in soft awareness and safety in my own world, in the inner sanctum of joy and love for self that is my life. The outside world buzzes along, while I remain in my inner space of joy and content.

Drawing's message to me:
Sit in solitude in full awareness of your comfort and joy that resides within. Life -- your life -- is full, juicy, and ripe with possibilities and potential. Sit and contemplate the goodness and sweetness that life offers to you now. Pick the ripe fruit that is ready for the taking. Succulent, ripe, juicy. Your life is full!

I'm reading a new book, Frequency, by Penney Peirce. I'm pondering a new thought from it today under her 9 Stages to Transformation. In stage 8: Relationship, Family, and Group Experience Are Revolutionized, she says:

"You develop a new understanding of yin/receptive and yang/dynamic energy, as well as the right and left brain. You balance yourself with equal development of your receptive-intuitive-sourcing side and your active-focusing-creating side so your perception can be more fluid, creative, and perpetually renewed. As you understand the balance of yin and yang awareness and energy, you draw parallels between these qualities and male-female gender dynamics in relationships. You find a new awreness about what's possible in relationshipe between two internally balanced people, along with new behavior possibilities for both genders."

My intrigue with this reading is the idea of sourceing vs. creating. I always looked at creating from the right brain-intuitive side. She poses another way to think about creating.

I just finished a wonderful book by Elizabeth Gilbert: eat, pray, love. What a wonderful spiritual journey the author allowed herself for one full year. She traveled to Italy, India, and Indonesia. I laughed out loud in places and ended up crying during the last few pages. What a treat and treasure. Check it out.

The Flowering of Consciousness

I've watched a fantastic video by Eckhart Tolle, The Flowering of Consciousness, a two disc series. I'm reading his book right now too--A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. The point that sticks out to me is the idea of the pain-body. That is intriguing. I'm looking at how my pain-body reacts with other pain-bodies around me. Yikes, I think that it is acting out in some ways. Being aware is the first step in healing and dissolving the pain-body. This is really important work by Eckhart Tolle and I recommend both the DVD/video and the book

It was a good reminder for me of just how important it is to allow space for creating from our inner wisdom and source. The participants dove right into the process and seemed to get a lot out of it. Attaining Goals through Coaching

Are you the kind of person that works great when there is a goal ahead of you? It sure works for me. I find it invaluable to be working with a business coach right now. Having biweekly appointments is helping me attain my goal. Most of the time, the work gets done the day before the appointment. At least it gets done! I'm so close to my goal now of creating a new business venture thanks to my coach at the Small Business Development Center here in Silver City, New Mexico.

Body Portraits by Kids

These kids had so much fun painting their body portraits. I asked them to take off their shoes and have fun. I had no idea of how much room this project would actually take up. They had no problem with walking and sitting on their painting while they worked. They allowed sisters, brothers, and cousins to help them complete their painting. Why can't grown ups play so nice?

Law of Opposites

Have you ever declared something to the world or to yourself in secret and then have the exact opposite begin to show itself? Well, I found out that that is part of the creative process. It sets a context for us to be able to create what we really wish for. You have to know what you do not want in order to know what you want. Getting the exact opposite of what you want is an indication that you are standing in a doorway of opportunity. Stay steady and hold on because you are about to get what you really really really wish for. It takes strength, faith, trust, stamina, and the wisdom of this law of creation to hold your position in the face of opposing factors.

Do you want riches? Well, get ready to experience poverty before you experience riches. Do you want the love of your life to show up? Well, guess who will be on your doorstep faster than you know it? Yep, the love disaster of your life. Just say NO THANK YOU!!! And keep on keeping on. Your true desires are coming to you. You have to say no in order to get to yes. The more you say no, the more clear you are getting to knowing what your wishes are, and the more clear the universe is getting to know what you desire.

Desire vs. Want

I'm reading and doing the exercises in the book, Feel It Real. Today's exercise was so enlightening that I needed to, wanted to, or ah .... desired to share it.

The exercise was to write down your beliefs on desire. My mother tells the story of when I was a little girl of me jumping up and down on the bed singing "I want a wagon-sagon". I wanted a red wagon so badly back then. I never got it. My Mom's heart ached because she could not buy it for me.

Here's what I learned this morning. Wanting is so much different than desiring. Reflecting back on my little girl experience, I realized that wanting never leads to manifesting. I went to the dictionary to find out why.

Desire:
v. 1. to hope or wish for ardently: crave
2. to ask for: request
*syns: ache, crave, hanker, long, wish, yearn
n. 1. a strong wish or longing: craving
2. a wish or petition

Want:
v. 1. to desire greatly: wish
2. to be deficient in: lack
3. to need: require
4. to be needy
5. to seek with intent to capture
n. 1. lack of usual or necessary amount
2. urgent need: impoverishment
3. a need, desire, or requirement
4. a character fault or flaw

OMG -- Wow -- I shall never WANT again! Who would want to be with anyone who feels lacking or needy? And why would any other healthy form of energy be attracted to that? Like attracts like, so the only thing that WANT attracts is WANT.

Ask for and it is given .... a desire is a request or petition, not a requirement. It allows the Universe / God / Goddess, etc. to give us what is in our best interests.

From now on, I DESIRE .....

Words have power and magic. Use them wisely.

Wisdom Painting at San Vicente Artists Youth Art Camp

So much fun! Kids take to this stuff like it is water. They had 45 minutes to paint and got right to it. The Youth Art Camp happened on Saturday, July 19, at the Historic Silco Theater in Silver City, New Mexico. It was a free day for kids sponsored by the San Vicente Artists of Silver City.

Freedom

What is Freedom to you? Is it being free of all restrictions? Is it financial freedom? Is it freedom to say what needs to be said? I think that LOVE might be the truest expression and definition of freedom. If we love unconditionally, I believe we just might be free. There will be no comparisons, no judgements, nothing that would inhibit us nor hold us back. Love for self is the highest form of freedom. If we have that, we also free up everyone around us. We own our life and that gives us free choice and freedom.

My own freedom began two years ago, July 2006, when I packed my car and left Connecticut for the southwest. How can it be two years already? Freedom does not mean that it is easy. Freedom does have its price along with its glorious pleasures. Oh yeah....

I have not posted for a few months. So sorry. A few weeks ago a past Wisdom painter from Connecticut and I connected. She told me that she had an angel reading in CT where she was told to paint everyday. And that the paintings would lead her way. Wisdom Painting is so important. Why am I not doing it everyday myself? Beth, are you painting everyday? Where have your paintings led you? I hope they lead you to Silver City soon!

The Beauty of You

I'd like to add a few words to this quote: "The beauty of life is to experience yourself as beauty." or maybe "The purpose of life is to experience yourself as beauty."

I wonder if each of us experience ourselves as beauty if the world would change. Would we change the way we act and interact with others if we experienced ourselves as beauty? Would we change the way we act and interact with others if we experienced others as beauty? I think maybe we would. If beauty is Divine, we could gather wisdom behind the meaning of the expression Namaste and change that to say "The beauty within me sees the beauty within you". In this way beauty heals and delivers harmony. To me beauty is flow, wonder, and awe. Whenever I experience beauty, I feel calm, serene, and uplifted.

I had an experience of myself as beauty last year. I was busy taking pictures of nature when all of a sudden the camera turned on me and I was taking self-portraits while I was immersed in nature. When I downloaded them off my camera and into my computer photo program, I saw my own beauty. I had experienced a message from nature that I was beauty and as beautiful as nature herself. I felt nature's kiss of love and gratitude upon my soul. It was as if she was returning the favor and fondness I had given her over the past year of photographing, painting, and being in awe of her beauty.

Another concept of beauty is the Japenese term Wabi-Sabi. I just learned about Wabi-Sabi. It's basically a natural beauty. I recently watched my 2nd Alex Grey DVD ordered from NetFlix, ARTMind: The Healing Power of Sacred Art.

One spiritual message from this DVD stood out to me: "There is no out there". Alex talks of the cosmic swirl and how his psychedelic drug experiences have fed his art with visions and understanding. One painting vision in particular helped him see the truth that life is an inside job. Everything that shows up in our outer experience is brought forth from within.

This is why I believe that Wisdom Painting is so important. It helps me see what's inside of me. It has helped other people who have taken my classes to see what's inside them too. This helps us to see our life differently, from the inside out.

I read the article today and watched his "National Dinner Tour" YouTube video which is linked in the article. This guy blows away any preconceived notion of how creative we can be. He IS CREATIVITY at its core. He gives everyone permission to just go out and follow through with creative ideas, to follow through with your creative thought. If for nothing else than pure curiosity. My kudos to this young man who has had the guts to follow his heart. What have you been curious about lately? Faith is one of the most diffifcult to grasp prinicples in life. It is something that has to be practiced moment to moment to realize its powers of manifestation. When we are in the throws of life changes, FAITH is what will see us through. But, what is faith? Is it something that only the religious need apply? I think not. And yet, I do believe that God is at the helm of my life. We need to have faith in ourselves and every aspect of life. We need to have faith that it is ALL good, that everything is happening exactly as it should. We are in the right place at the right time, always. Sometimes this is not an easy task in the face of disaster or apearances to the contrary. I envision Faith as being a cloak or robe that I put on like an invisible shield that protects me from my own negativity. When I wear the robe of faith, I step into right action and positivity for living the life I want.

Alex Grey Visionary Artist Movie

I have watched a movie by visionary artist Alex Grey of his Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. This movie is a documentary narrated by Alex Gray. The video is stunning visually. Alex Grey's artwork stands out in this movie as he takes us through his Chapel of Sacred Mirrors which was built to house his artwork in New York City. This is a truly amazing movie that touches every aspect of spirituality. He has left no stone unturned. I highly recommend this movie, which I obtained through NetFlix.

The first night I watched this movie, I dreamed a whole new series of paintings which I will embark upon over the next few months. Let me know what happens to you after you watch this exciting film.

Essential Oils for Living a Full Life: Purchase From Me Now On Sale

Essential oils help us on a subtle vibrational level. I have found them to be extremely and gently essential to my well being over the years. See the oils that are available through me at the bottom of this post. Buy now and save through Jan. 31, 2008.

Ways in which I use these friendly helping plants from nature:

I pour a few drops on the palm of one hand and rub the oil between both hands and then lift both hands to my nose and inhale two or three deep breaths, then run my hands lightly through my hair. If I am barefoot, such as before bedtime or after my shower, I rub the oil into the soles of my feet and then my hair.
The palms of our hands and the soles of our feet are great ways in which to get the oils circulating throughout our entire body via the tiny points that are connected to every organ of our system. I do this daily.
Another wonderful way is to put 10-20 drops of essential oil into a glass spray bottle filled with distilled water. Shake it and spray any room to support you throughout your day. I love doing this in the bedroom in the morning as I am dressing.
The bath is another favorite way of using these oils. Put 2-3 drops in the bathtub as the water is running or just before you immerse your body.

The Benefits of Essential Oils: An essential oil is a liquid that is generally distilled (most frequently by steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, or other elements of a plant. Essential oils, contrary to the use of the word "oil" are not really oily-feeling at all. Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant it was derived from. Essential oils are highly concentrated and a little goes a long way. The chemical composition and aroma of essential oils can provide valuable psychological and physical therapeutic benefits. These benefits are usually achieved through methods including inhalation and application of the diluted oil to the skin.

Essential vs. Perfume: Where essential oils are derived from the true plants, perfume oils are artificially created fragrances or contain artificial substances and do not offer the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer.

Testing the Vibrational Value of Essential Oils: If you are sensitive to energy, then you will be able to sense the therapeutic pureness of an oil. Do this at the health food store or after purchasing your oil. Open the bottle and take a whiff. Close your eyes and imagine that the aroma is speaking to you. The way in which it speaks to me is to direct the bottle to an area of my body. I let the bottle move itself to wherever it wants to. This is a clue to me as to the way in which I will use this particular oil. If there is no communication, either the oil is not of high grade or you don't communicate in this way with nature. Feng Shui Works

Yesterday, a free Feng Shui report came to my inbox from tarot.com. For some reason, I decided to accept it. Yes, of course, they give you a free "sample" and then want you to purchase the entire report, which I did. This is an astrological chart meets Feng Shui type of report.

I measured out my entire apartment and each room. Then I laid the bagua over it all. It's very interesting where my rooms fall on it. My bedroom occupies the entire creativity and helpful people sections. So, I have a little work to do there since that seems to be an important room for me, Feng Shui-wise.

I did a few of the suggestions to my wealth areas yesterday from my tarot.com reading. It has been really powerful already. I have been finding things that I had forgotten I had like an extra bottle of laundry detergent. My current one is almost empty and I thought I had to go buy another one before my next load. Then, I found my Cd's of classical music which is another cure for me to bring in positive energy. I also found my DVD movies of The Secret and Down the Rabbit Hole. And a sterling silver ring that I made years ago and thought I had lost made itself visible to me. Wow. I'm feeling much better and happier. This stuff really works.

I have more wealth than I think I do....I just have to keep remembering....

Calling Forth is Talking to Me

My Wisdom Painting is beginning to talk to me – Commanding Force, Coming Forth are new titles and meanings for this painting as I read blogs and more today. How about Going Forth or Going Ahead? The energy of the painting is that of walking through a portal or threshold, into manifestation. It reminds me of a couple of TV shows -- Sliders and another one where people would go through a portal into a new world. I think that is what this painting is showing me. I am going into a new world. An intention statement that makes me feel really strong right now is: "I command my space in this universe now."

Title of this Painting: Calling Forth

In an effort to move forward with my year knowing more about myself at this juncture, I did a Wisdom Painting. This is a tool for self-discovery that I teach in workshops in Silver City, New Mexico. I have not Wisdom Painted for myself in a couple of years so I thought it would be a good idea to use my own toolset for self-discovery.

I welcome your comments on this painting. Every painting speaks to me personally and yet it comes from a universal place as well. I will be posting my own comments over the next fews days. In the meantime, I invite you to leave a comment on how the painting affects you. Give it your own title and describe what you see and how it makes you feel. This is about you.
